Main Article Content
Abstract
Drawing on the impact and performance style of the revolutionary singer Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient, Richard Wagner’s idol, this article examines the musical and dramatic tools provided to the singers by researchers at the fimt as part of the historically informed production of Der Ring des Nibelungen (conducted by Kent Nagano) to evoke the musical atmosphere of the 19th century. The text is accompanied by several videos in which the ideas presented are realised through singing and acting.
