Die Ambivalenz weiblicher Sexualität – Fruit Fingering zwischen performativer Kraft und künstlerischer Selbstermächtigung
Main Article Content
Abstract
A performer gently moves her fingers over a cut blood orange. The movements are getting stronger, until juice squirts out of the orange. The performance Handarbeit (Christine Stein, 2018) uses the technique of Fruit Fingering to performatively portray (subjective) female sexuality. The blood orange transforms into a symbolic female genital. Thus, the act of fruit fingering exposes the ambivalence of female sexuality. On the one hand, female bodies (parts) in particular seem to be oversexualized; at the same time, a subjective female sexuality is a blank space. The article examines how the performance develops and highlights this ambivalence.
